3. It’s easy to get there

It’s quite easy to get there. The easiest way to get to Kotor Montenegro is to fly in to Podgorica airport and then take a taxi to Kotor. If you are feeling adventerious, you can take the scenic route via E65 and E65/E80 and drive along the beautiful coastline. Alternately, you can also take a bus ride from Dubrovnik, Croatia which has great views by the way.which is roughly 92km.

4. Medieval old town

It’s a medieval old town with traditional roots. It was originally founded by the Romans and in the 10th century it was an autonomous city ruled by Byzantium. It was a free city of medieval Serbia from 1186 to 1371.

A lot of Kotor’s medieval buildings remain, you can see the city wall and the fortification which spans around 4.5km. It’s also got many historic buildings, the most famous one being the St. Tryphon Cathedral, Church of St. Luke. Another interesting fact is that it is one of the oldest towns in Montenegro, and after an earthquake in 1979, it was declared a USECO world heritage site.

5. You can visit nearby towns from Kotor

Kotor is uniquely located pleasant town in Montenegro and it has the most amazing scenery and the wonderful Kotor bay. If you are feeling adventurous, there are numerous things nearby Kotor town that might interest you. You can visit:

Lovcen National Park

It one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro. It’s makes a great day trip from Kotor town. There are many activities available for thrill seekers like, zip-lining, quad-biking and even hiking and cycling

Durmitor National Park

This is yet another beautiful place located in the northwest Montenegro. It’s wonderful mountains & lakes are unmissable. It’s quite a bit of distance away from Kotor, so we recommend renting a car or a better option is to get a book a tour, as they will take you there and will know all the best places.

Dubrovnik

This  is amazing Croatian city located about 2 hrs away from Kotor. If you haven’t been we highly recommend you check out as its old town is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the world and it’s also a UNESCO world heritage site. There are several buses that go from Kotor to Dubrovnik and you can also take book a tour of the place.
